The Alliance of Construction Professionals of Northwest Ohio helps its affiliated members provide the highest quality training to anyone interested in a career in any of the trades of the construction industry through apprenticeship training. Our affiliates are at the forefront of apprenticeship training, spending hundreds of thousands of dollars each year to ensure the organized construction-labor sector has the safest and most highly qualified workforce in the construction industry.
A union apprentice learns a trade through classroom instruction and on-the-job training while earning wages and benefits and acquiring important career skills. This “earn while you learn” feature of apprenticeship makes it affordable for everyone.
The apprenticeship programs of our member organizations are administered by their respective joint apprenticeship and training committees (JATCs) and are conducted in state-of-the-art training facilities. Some local training committees also provide special classes with hands-on training to support classroom lectures and discussions.
The training period for skilled trades ranges between 3 to 5 years, depending on the trade. Apprentices learn the proper use, care, and safe handling of tools and equipment that are used in their specific trade. All of the trades require the applicant to be a high school graduate or posses a G.E.D. certificate.
The apprenticeship programs of ACP member organizations operate under the standards of the
Ohio State Apprenticeship Council.

Journeyworker Training
JATCs offer free skill improvement and skill upgrading to ensure their members have access to continuous learning opportunities. These programs are designed to broaden, diversify and update the skills of union members.
Safety and Health Training
As part of their skills training, JATC apprentices and journey-level members learn safety on the job, and safety and health courses help members better handle the hazards of construction sites and stay safe. |
